Illustration Friday: Wisdom
What's the first thing you think of to symbolise Wisdom? An owl. But in fact they're down the 'blockhead' end of the spectrum of bird intelligence. I always thought that ravens were pretty wise looking (if a little grumpy) and that made me think of Woden (the English version of the Norse god Odin). He gave up an eye in the search for wisdom and employed two ravens (whose names I forget) in his search for knowledge.

What a great illustration...I learn something new every day. Love the colors too.
It sure looks like he'll find the wisdom he's looking for...I like his strong figure! You did a fine job on the hands and the face, and I also like the billowing cloak and the clouded background. The ravens are a great alternative to the owls, and that was an onteresting piece of info about Woden.
very nice
Hugin {thought] and Munin [memory]
are the names of Odin's ravens
